Motor oil lubricates engine components, reduces friction, and prevents overheating. Over time, oil breaks down and becomes contaminated with dirt, debris, and engine byproducts. When this happens, it can’t effectively protect your engine, leading to premature wear and costly repairs.

Regular oil changes help:

  • Extend engine life by reducing wear and tear
  • Improve gas mileage by minimizing engine friction
  • Enhance engine performance by keeping internal parts clean
  • Reduce harmful emissions for a cleaner environment

How Often Should You Change Your Oil

The recommended oil change interval varies based on your vehicle, driving habits, and the type of oil used. While older guidelines suggested every 3,000 miles, modern synthetic oils allow for longer intervals. Most automotive manufacturers now recommend an oil change every 5,000 to 7,000 miles, with some extending up to 10,000 miles under ideal conditions.

At Tri-Valley Automotive in Dublin, CA, we recommend changing your oil every 3,000 miles for synthetic blends and 5,000 miles for full synthetic oil to maximize your vehicle’s longevity. Our team uses high-quality oils to provide the best balance between performance and affordability.

Today a customer called and asked for a quote for a fuel pump replacement. They had just come home from a trip to Mexico yesterday and when they tried to start their Suburban this morning it wouldn’t go. After trying several times, it finally started. They took the truck to the Chevy dealer to be quoted a high price. At that point they decided to call around to see if they could fine a lower price. Didn’t I just have the car in for service not too long ago? Why is this happening? Everyone is looking at me! Well, there could be a number of reasons why your brakes are noisy.
